E-mart Joins Government-Backed Chuseok Food Discount Program - report

E-mart Co., Ltd. (139480) joined Chuseok food discounts backed by Korea's agriculture ministry, Aju Business Daily reported Tuesday. The government allocated ₩59 billion for the program.

Participating large and smaller retailers began discounts on September 3. Korean agricultural and livestock products receive discounts of as much as 40% through September 23. The usual per-person discount ceiling is suspended during the period.

Retailers are also running their own promotions alongside the government support. E-mart and other named chains are among the participating stores. The company's market capitalisation was ₩2.1 trillion at Tuesday's close.
