The union at HD HYUNDAI HEAVY INDUSTRIES CO.,LTD. (329180) asked lawmakers to summon the chief executive, Dailian reported Tuesday. The request concerns fatal workplace accidents during 2026.
The Korean Metal Workers' Union and lawmaker Kim Tae-sun held a press conference at the National Assembly. They said five workers had died in serious accidents at the company this year. The union requested government safety measures and CEO testimony at next month's audit.
The company conducted a safety shutdown in July. The labor ministry also began a large inspection before another fatal accident occurred. The company's market capitalisation was ₩46.7 trillion at Tuesday's close.
