Samsung Electro-Mechanics (009150) said Monday it signed a supply contract for MLCCs (multilayer ceramic capacitors) worth KRW 1,072.2bn (about $778.9m), the third sealed-counterparty MLCC contract it has disclosed since June.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics signed a supply contract for MLCCs (multilayer ceramic capacitors) worth ₩1,072.2bn (USD 778.9m at the August 31, 2026 rate of ₩1,376.50/$1) — 9.5% of FY2025 consolidated revenue of ₩11.31tn, a ratio the filing states directly. Like two smaller MLCC contracts the company disclosed in June and July (worth a combined ₩749.1bn), this one runs for the whole of calendar 2027 (January 1 to December 31) and the buyer's identity is sealed: the filing names it only as "a large global company" and withholds the terms under a disclosure hold citing business confidentiality, set to lift the business day after the contract ends on December 31, 2027. No advance payment is included.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics makes the small, unglamorous parts that sit inside almost every electronic device. Its largest business is multilayer ceramic capacitors, or MLCCs, tiny components that smooth electrical current; a single smartphone uses roughly a thousand of them and an electric vehicle uses many thousands more. The company is one of only a handful worldwide with the scale to make them at volume, competing chiefly with Japan's Murata and TDK. Its other two segments make camera modules for phones and cars, and the package substrates that connect a semiconductor die to a circuit board, a business that has become strategically important as AI accelerators demand larger and more complex substrates. Samsung Electronics is both its largest customer and, through affiliate ownership, part of the same group, though it also sells to Apple, Chinese handset makers and global automakers. For a US reader, think of it as the Korean analogue to a Murata or an AVX: a components supplier whose earnings swing hard with electronics inventory cycles rather than with any single end product.
