Korea Aerospace Industries is the country's only aircraft manufacturer, building the FA-50 light combat aircraft, trainers, helicopters, and the KF-21 next-generation fighter. It also produces aerostructures as a subcontractor to Boeing and Airbus, which gives it a direct commercial link to Western aerospace. Export campaigns for the FA-50 across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East are the main driver of its order backlog. It is the Korean name that comes up when US and allied programs shop for trainer aircraft.
