OCI Company Ltd. Expands Semiconductor Phosphoric Acid Production Capacity - report

OCI Company Ltd. (456040) is expanding semiconductor-grade phosphoric acid capacity, Dailian reported Sunday, citing industry sources. The company plans to finish the work in the fourth quarter and increase annual capacity to 30,000 tonnes.

Existing annual capacity is 25,000 tonnes, and the expansion uses process improvements rather than construction of a new plant. Chipmakers use phosphoric acid to remove selected thin films from silicon wafers during the etching stage of production.

The material is used in DRAM and NAND production as well as foundry processes, according to the report. The company's market capitalisation was ₩0.7 trillion at Friday's close.
