Korean Group Companies Reduce Board Seats in Annual Meeting Survey - Yonhap

Listed companies in Korea's fifty largest business groups reduced their combined board seats to 1,733 this year. Yonhap reported Sunday that Leaders Index compared annual shareholder meeting results for 269 companies with available prior-year figures.

The total fell by 47 seats, or 2.6%, from 1,780 in the previous year's comparison. Executive director seats declined from 843 to 807, while independent director seats declined from 937 to 926.

Fourteen companies also staggered the expiry dates of directors' terms. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (005930): The company's market capitalisation was ₩1,493.7 trillion at Friday's close.
