Policy loans at eight major Korean insurers reached ₩47.9119 trillion at the end of July, Yonhap reported Sunday. The balance rose 3.9% from December, according to regulatory data provided to a lawmaker.
Life insurers accounted for ₩33.2042 trillion, with their policy loan balances increasing 5.6% during the period. Borrowers aged at least 60 held ₩13.1546 trillion in policy loans, up 10.2% from December.
The figures cover three life insurers and five nonlife insurers, using balances collected by the financial regulator. Samsung Life Insurance co., Ltd (032830): The company's market capitalisation was ₩59.5 trillion at Friday's close.
