KOSPI 200 Volatility Index Closes Below Forty on Friday - Yonhap

The KOSPI 200 Volatility Index finished Friday at 39.33 after falling 3.09 points, Yonhap reported. Its intraday low of 39.30 marked the first reading below 40 since February 12.

The index measures annualized expected volatility over the next 30 days using KOSPI 200 option prices. Friday's decline was 7.28%, compared with the previous close, according to Korea Exchange data cited in the report.

The index had reached an intraday level of 97.99 on June 29. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (005930): The company's market capitalisation was ₩1,493.7 trillion at Friday's close.
