Korea Announces Phased Token Securities Plan for February Launch - Yonhap

Korea's Financial Services Commission announced a phased token securities framework at a September 4 meeting, Yonhap reported Friday. The framework will enter the regulated financial system in February next year using securities recorded on blockchain ledgers.

The first stage includes privately placed tokenized bonds and funds for institutions, plus unlisted shares held through trusts. Later stages will extend tokenization to public offerings and connect settlement with stablecoins and other payment instruments.

Retail investors will face an annual net purchase limit of ₩100 million per over-the-counter exchange. Kiwoom Securities Co., Ltd. (039490): The company's market capitalisation was ₩7.1 trillion at Friday's close.
