Korean Card Lenders Receive More Requests for Lower Rates - report

Korean card companies received 421,258 applications for lower loan rates in the first half, Dailian reported Friday. Applications increased 41.3% from the preceding half, according to figures from the industry's association.

Lenders approved 269,290 requests, up 25.5%, while the acceptance rate fell from 72.01% to 63.93%. Samsung Card Co., Ltd. (029780) approved 60,402 applications, the largest number among the eight specialist card companies surveyed.

The company received 110,543 requests and accepted 54.64%, according to the same first-half figures from the industry association. The company's market capitalisation was ₩5.3 trillion at Friday's close.
