Korea Electric Power Corporation (015760) selected Seongsong in Gochang County for the planned 345-kilovolt Singochang substation, Dailian reported Monday. The site selection committee approved the location after the project had stalled for about three years.
The substation will connect renewable generation in North Jeolla Province to the national electricity network. The company shifted its discussions from local authorities and opposition groups to direct consultations with residents.
Residents formed a committee to seek the project and completed local consultation and consent procedures. The company's market capitalisation was ₩21 trillion at Monday's close.
