Korean Regulator Expands Undercover Checks of Insurance Sales Events - report

Korea's Financial Supervisory Service will continue undercover checks of insurance briefings and fairs, Dailian reported September 6. The regulator discussed additional inspections and stronger internal controls at companies with poor sales practices during its September 4 meeting.

Complaints involving these sales channels increased from 681 in 2024 to 754 last year, according to the report. Another 429 complaints arrived in the first half of this year as the regulator reviewed continuing improper sales conduct.

Reported practices included presenting whole-life insurance as savings. Samsung Life Insurance co., Ltd (032830): The company's market capitalisation was ₩62.4 trillion at Monday's close.
