Korea National Oil Corporation's union opposed the government's proposed merger with Korea Gas Corporation (036460), Aju Business Daily reported Monday. The union said officials had not adequately consulted employees before advancing a decision affecting the company's future.
The union cited differences between the oil and gas businesses across exploration and distribution. It asked management to explain how it had responded to the government's merger proposal and what it knew beforehand.
It also demanded an immediate employee town hall to disclose the proposal's progress and management's response. The company's market capitalisation was ₩3.2 trillion at Monday's close.
