Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. Investigates Alleged Housing Allowance Misuse - Newsis

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (005930) opened an internal inquiry into suspected housing allowance misuse at its Pyeongtaek operation, Newsis reported Monday. Allegations concern employees submitting leases that differed from their actual rental arrangements to obtain company support.

The reported program provides qualifying junior employees with housing payments of up to ₩700,000 per month. Claims circulated online that some applicants misstated apartment size or included maintenance charges in the rent submitted to Samsung.

The company is checking the allegations, according to the September 7 report, which did not establish misconduct. The company's market capitalisation was ₩1,578.5 trillion at Monday's close.
