Kioxia rejected joint semiconductor production with SK hynix Inc. (000660), Aju Business Daily reported Wednesday. Kioxia's chief executive discussed the proposal in a Bloomberg interview published the same day.
The executive said joint production could conflict with antitrust rules. He also cited Kioxia's existing cooperation with SanDisk as a potential obstacle. SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won had previously raised the possibility of production cooperation with Kioxia.
Kioxia and SK hynix are both NAND flash manufacturers. SanDisk is Kioxia's existing production partner. The company's market capitalisation was ₩1,355.8 trillion at Wednesday's close.
