POSCO Future M makes cathode and anode materials, the two electrodes that determine how much energy a lithium-ion battery can hold. It supplies Korean cell makers that build packs for General Motors and other US automakers, so its order book tracks North American EV plans. Belonging to the POSCO group gives it access to upstream lithium and nickel, an unusual degree of vertical integration among battery-material suppliers. It is also one of the few Korean names whose fortunes turn on how US clean-energy tax rules are written.
