Global Port Congestion Reaches Record Container Capacity in August - report

Container ship capacity held in ports reached a record 11.13 million twenty-foot equivalent units in late August. Dailian reported Friday that Korea Ocean Business Corporation published the figures in a report on port congestion.

Capacity waiting for berths reached 4.31 million units, exceeding the pandemic peak of about four million. North Asia accounted for about 2.2 million units waiting to berth, while Shanghai alone had more than 1.5 million.

Busan's average berthing delay reached 8.7 hours in the cited port measurements. HMM Co., Ltd. (011200): The company's market capitalisation was ₩19.9 trillion at Friday's close.
