Hyundai WIA Will Supply Driverless Forklifts to KIA CORPORATION - report

Hyundai WIA (011210) will supply driverless forklifts to KIA CORPORATION (000270) at its Hwaseong manufacturing site, Dailian reported Monday. Deliveries will begin next May for equipment that moves through the plant and loads or unloads trucks without a driver.

The forklifts use lidar and vision sensors to locate pallets and guide their movements through the factory. A virtual copy of the production environment helps the equipment generate routes for different tasks.

Safety scanners detect people and obstacles and stop the vehicle when it identifies a hazard. The company's market capitalisation was ₩1.6 trillion at Monday's close.
