LG ENERGY SOLUTION, LTD. Reports Gas Control in Battery Research - report

LG ENERGY SOLUTION, LTD. (373220) reported a method to suppress gas in large lithium-manganese-rich battery cells, Dailian reported Monday. The company conducted the research with Seoul National University and published the findings in Nature Communications.

The researchers examined how charging and discharging conditions affect oxygen reactions inside the battery material. They identified the lower discharge voltage as a factor in oxygen recovery alongside the upper charging voltage.

The company redesigned operating conditions and lowered the temperature during cell formation to suppress gas generation. The company's market capitalisation was ₩84.8 trillion at Monday's close.
