Meritz Financial Group (138040) signed a ₩500bn treasury-share trust contract with NH Investment & Securities running to 31 March 2027, and terminated an earlier ₩700bn contract on the same day, the company said in filings on Friday.
The March contract had been spent. The filing records ₩703.8bn of purchases completed by 28 August against the ₩700bn committed, and the trust was closed ahead of its term. The board approved the replacement on 28 August with all four independent directors present.
Meritz (138040) has a standing policy of returning at least 50% of consolidated net income each year through dividends and buybacks, choosing between the two on which yields more. Shares bought under the new trust are to be cancelled in a single annual batch resolved by the board around each March.
The new ₩500bn contract equals 21% of the ₩2,350.1bn Meritz earned in net income in FY2025.
The filing sizes the purchase at 4,201,681 shares using the ₩119,000 close of 27 August, and says the count will move with the price.
Meritz held 6,273,560 shares in treasury before the contract, 3.75% of the company, and has retired 7,874,500 shares so far this year.
