Celltrion approves ₩100bn buyback, plans full cancellation

Celltrion (068270) said in a regulatory filing Monday that its board approved buying back up to 524,384 common shares, worth as much as ₩100.0bn (~$72.6m), with purchases running from September 1 through November 30.

NH Investment & Securities will execute the buying on the open market, capped at 138,878 shares a day, at prices anchored to Friday's ₩190,700 close. The filing states every share acquired under this program will ultimately be retired rather than added to Celltrion's existing treasury stock.

The company cited price stability and shareholder value as its purpose, consistent with buybacks it has run through 2026: the same filing shows ₩229.5bn already spent on treasury purchases since the last fiscal year-end.

The ₩100.0bn ceiling equals about 0.23% of Celltrion's ₩43.94tn market capitalization, and the 524,384 shares equal roughly the same share of the 232.6 million shares outstanding.

Before this decision, Celltrion held 586,927 treasury shares, equal to 0.3% of common stock, according to the filing.
