Court: KEPCO can't ban managers from union

A Korean court ruled Korea Electric Power can't automatically remove supervisors from the union after promotion. The Gwangju District Court sided with a supervisor (A) who challenged his removal.

The court found the practice was unfair. It didn't give supervisors notice or consider each case individually. The ruling took effect September 1 after the opposing side didn't appeal.

About 3,600 KEPCO supervisors were kept out of the union under this 60-year practice. They could now rejoin. Labor disputes have historically affected KEPCO's costs.

KEPCO's FY2025 revenue hit ₩97.4 trillion. Net income was ₩8.67 trillion.
