Korea Zinc boosts sulfuric acid output for chip makers

Korea Zinc has expanded its Onsan smelter's ultra-pure sulfuric acid output to 32 million tonnes annually for semiconductor makers. The company finished expanding production lines 20 and 21, adding 40,000 tonnes of annual capacity.

The expansion meets growing demand from chip makers building new factories for AI infrastructure. Korea Zinc is the world's leading maker of ultra-pure sulfuric acid for chip etching and wafer processing.

Korea Zinc reported FY2025 revenue of ₩11.8 trillion. The company smelts and refines non-ferrous metals and supplies materials for chips, cars and electronics makers worldwide.
