Hankook Tire & Technology installed about 5 megawatts of solar power panels on warehouse roofs at its Geumsan factory in South Korea. The rooftop solar system generates roughly 6.66 gigawatt-hours of electricity annually, reported Dailian.
The solar power runs plant operations while cutting greenhouse gas emissions by about 3,061 tonnes per year. The installation shows how manufacturers are using more renewable energy on their factory roofs to cut rising electricity costs and meet environmental rules. Solar power is becoming more common at manufacturing facilities worldwide.
Hankook Tire & Technology is one of the world's largest tire makers. The company makes tires for passenger cars, commercial trucks, and racing vehicles sold across Korea and in global markets.
