LS Electric, KT Cloud partner on AI data center power

LS Electric (KRX:010120) and KT Cloud signed a strategic partnership Wednesday to develop power distribution systems for AI data centres, committing to joint R&D on modular power delivery as accelerator workloads drive infrastructure refresh cycles.

The firms will co-develop high-voltage equipment and low-voltage distribution for containerized and modular data centre units. LS Electric supplies power gear; KT Cloud brings data centre operations and customer channels. The partnership includes trials at existing KT Cloud facilities.

LS Electric's market capitalisation was ₩28.8 trillion at Thursday's close. The company is an electrical-equipment maker serving industrial, utility and building markets. AI infrastructure capex is driving demand for power systems with fast provisioning and high efficiency — metrics that favour integrated partnerships between makers and operators over traditional procurement.

KT Cloud is a Korea Telecom subsidiary operating data centres in Seoul and regional locations. Modular systems reduce deployment time from months to weeks, a speed advantage that matters as customer backlogs lengthen.
