Samsung Electronics Vietnam plants boost profit on chip boom

Samsung Electronics' Vietnam production sites posted record first-half 2026 revenue and profit growth on strong demand for semiconductor components and consumer electronics, the company disclosed Wednesday. Samsung Vietnam operations contributed 5.1% of group revenue and 8% of consolidated net income, with margins exceeding Korea-based facilities.

Four Samsung Vietnam entities — Taiyuen (SEVT), Bacninh (SEV), Bacninh Display (SDV) and Ho Chi Minh City (SEHC) — posted combined revenue growth of 34.6% year-over-year. Semiconductor component demand from AI accelerator makers drove the expansion, with factories running near 95% capacity utilization.

Samsung Electronics' market capitalisation was ₩1,461.6 trillion at Thursday's close. Second-quarter consolidated revenue of ₩79.3 trillion carried operating margin of 76.4%, the highest in two years. Vietnam subsidiary employment exceeds 35,000 across production, engineering and logistics roles.

Vietnam has emerged as Samsung's most profitable offshore production hub, offsetting margin pressure in Korea-based consumer electronics assembly.
