SK hynix raises dividend payout goal to 50% by 2030

SK hynix announced it will raise its long-term dividend payout ratio to 50% of earnings by 2030, up from current levels of 30-35%, signalling confidence in stable cash generation as AI memory-chip demand sustains production at capacity. The dividend increase pairs with a ₩40 trillion share buyback program to return ₩80-90 trillion of capital to shareholders through 2030.

The payout target aligns SK hynix with Korean peer Samsung and Western memory makers, which have committed 50%+ payout ratios as competitive maturity limits capex intensity. SK hynix intends to prioritize memory-technology investments and balanced shareholder returns.

SK hynix's market capitalisation was ₩1,165.9 trillion at Thursday's close. Second-quarter operating income of ₩60.5 trillion set a record for the company, driven by HBM sales to NVIDIA and other AI accelerator makers. Debt stood at ₩24.1 trillion, near decade lows.

Memory-industry payout commitments are new relative to 2023-2024 positioning, when excess capacity prompted capex cuts. The sustained AI demand cycle is changing capital discipline across the sector.
