Samsung SDS expands cloud services amid AI infrastructure boom

Samsung SDS (KRX:018260) is expanding cloud data-centre capacity and AI-service offerings as enterprise customers accelerate digital transformation and data centralisation, the company said Wednesday. First-half 2026 cloud revenue growth of 28% outpaced legacy IT-services declines, reshaping the company toward infrastructure-as-service and platform-as-service revenue streams.

Samsung SDS operates data centres in Seoul and regional South Korea, serving domestic enterprises and Samsung group affiliates. New capacity targets enterprise AI workloads and analytics pipelines that have tripled in volume year-over-year.

Samsung SDS' market capitalisation was ₩17.5 trillion at Thursday's close. First-half operating income of ₩341 billion grew 3.4% despite 4% revenue decline, reflecting cloud margin expansion. Operating margin improved to 6.3% as low-margin legacy services transitioned to managed sunset.

Korean enterprise cloud adoption trails US and Europe by 18-24 months, offering multi-year runway for capacity and service growth.
