Government plans to merge five KEPCO generation units - Newsis

South Korea plans to merge five power generators into a new company owned by Korea Electric Power Corporation (015760), Newsis reported Friday. The government presented the plan at KEPCO's Seoul office on September 4.

The government plans to pass special legislation this year and launch Korea Power in October 2027. The combined company would own about 53 GW of generation capacity and remain a wholly owned KEPCO subsidiary.

The company's market capitalisation was ₩20.6 trillion at Friday's close. The five generators were separated from KEPCO in 2001, and the planned company would have four headquarters units.
