Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. Union Officials Referred to Prosecutors - report

Police referred six Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (005930) employees to prosecutors over an alleged employee blacklist. Dailian reported Friday that the suspects include union chairman Choi Seung-ho and other union members.

Hwaseong Dongtan police referred the suspects without detention on allegations of violating South Korea's Personal Information Protection Act. The allegations concern collecting employee information without permission and compiling a list that recorded whether employees belonged to a union.

The company detected signs of the alleged list in March after an unidentified employee used workers' personal information. The company's market capitalisation was ₩1,493.7 trillion at Friday's close.
