Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. Union Runs New York Jobs Campaign - Yonhap

A Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. (005930) union began running Times Square advertisements against workforce reductions Saturday, Yonhap reported. The Donghaeng union represents workers in the company's finished products business and opposes job cuts linked to artificial intelligence changes.

The 15-second video began at midnight New York time and runs at 35 minutes past each hour on the display. The union said it also plans rallies and individual protests near Chairman Lee Jae-yong's Seoul home from September 18.

It has demanded 1,000 treasury shares per employee in the finished products business and equal base salary increases across the company. The company's market capitalisation was ₩1,493.7 trillion at Friday's close.
