Industrial Bank of Korea (024110) union members joined Friday's Seoul strike against relocating public financial institutions, Yonhap reported. The union estimated that roughly one third of the bank's staff participated from its Seoul headquarters and about 600 branches nationwide.
The Korean Financial Industry Union organized the rally on Sejong Boulevard near Gwanghwamun after Thursday's government relocation announcement. Participants also demanded a 4.5-day workweek, more youth hiring and real wage increases while calling for talks with employers.
Members from Korea Development Bank and the Export-Import Bank of Korea also joined, while commercial bank operations experienced no major disruption. The company's market capitalisation was ₩16.5 trillion at Friday's close.
