Samsung Heavy Industries (010140) said Monday it signed a ₩444.5bn (~$322m) contract to build two container ships for an unnamed African shipowner, according to a regulatory filing covering an order booked August 28.
The filing did not name the buyer, describing the counterparty only as an "African region shipowner." Payment is collected as construction progresses and includes an upfront deposit, with delivery due by December 27, 2028.
The order adds to a 2026 book already weighted toward large offshore and gas projects, including a floating LNG contract disclosed earlier this year, as Samsung Heavy works through what it has previously flagged as an $8.2bn offshore target for the year.
The ₩444.5bn contract equals about 4.2% of Samsung Heavy's ₩10.65tn in FY2025 revenue, the filing's own materiality disclosure shows.
Samsung Heavy shares closed Monday at ₩20,900, down from a 52-week high of ₩34,400.
