LG Electronics (KRX:066570) launched the CineBeam AI Projector Wednesday, a 4K laser model capable of displaying 120-inch screens from just 5.6 centimeters away from a wall, targeting consumers upgrading from flat-screen TVs with more compact living spaces. The projector integrates an AI processor and supports Dolby Atmos audio, priced for premium home theatre segments.
The unit uses RGB laser light engines and a three-channel optical system to deliver brightness and color fidelity comparable to cinema projectors. It can project 90-120 inch images between 5.6 and 18.3 centimeters from a surface, eliminating the need for dedicated ceiling mounting or projection rooms.
LG Electronics' market capitalisation was ₩32.5 trillion at Thursday's close. Consumer electronics display revenues fell 8% year-over-year in the second quarter as TV shipments declined globally. Premium projector segments have held pricing as consumers seek alternatives to flat screens in smaller homes.
The CineBeam AI is the first premium projector LG has launched since 2022, marking a return to a category the company abandoned as flat-screen prices fell faster than projector economics could match.
