APR (KRX:278470), South Korea's largest beauty distributor, disputed Singapore's Health Sciences Authority finding of methyl red dye in a Medicube skincare product Wednesday, citing its own laboratory results showing non-detection. The HSA had flagged the banned cosmetic dye in "PDRN Pink Collagen Capsule Cream" sold through APR's distribution network.
APR submitted internal lab reports to HSA showing the contested ingredient non-existent in reference samples from Medicube, the South Korean beauty startup. The companies are investigating whether the detected sample is counterfeit or subject to environmental contamination.
APR's market capitalisation was ₩15.2 trillion at Thursday's close. Medicube is a non-listed subsidiary generating roughly 4% of APR revenue through K-beauty exports to Southeast Asia and Japan. Singapore's HSA operates one of Asia's strictest cosmetic ingredient registries.
Cosmetic supply-chain contamination disputes have appeared as counterfeit products proliferate across e-commerce channels in Southeast Asia.
