NAVER Corporation (035420) asked police to investigate Toss operator Viva Republica over alleged search-ranking interference, Chosun Biz reported Friday. NAVER submitted the request to the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency earlier this year under business-obstruction and network-law provisions.
NAVER alleged that Toss attendance missions concentrated searches for selected restaurants and distorted results in NAVER Store and NAVER Place. Police questioned NAVER staff and booked Toss personnel, according to the report.
The company's market capitalisation was ₩32.5 trillion at Friday's close. Toss said it could not provide details because the matter remains under police investigation.
